An immersive week-long experience where composers collaborate with game developers and performers to explore the world of video game scoring — organized by Global Arts United (GAU) in partnership with Density512.
Each March during Spring Break in Austin, Texas, one of the world’s creative capitals for music, games, and technology.
Composers, producers, and music students age 18+ (younger participants considered by request). Prior experience with game scoring is welcome but not required.
You’ll workshop a newly (or previously) written piece, prepare a short excerpt for rehearsal and live performance with Density512, and join panels and sessions with composers and game industry guests.
Faculty include leading video game composers such as Virginia Leo, performers from Density512, scholars and industry professionals such as Thomas Yee, and collaborators from Austin’s game development community.
An opening concert by Density512 featuring a work by Austin Wintory, and a final concert and recording session presenting participants’ excerpts.
Tuition, rehearsals, recording, and housing with breakfast. Participants cover travel and other meals.
The date for the first payment will usually be published in the homepage. Flexible payment plans are available upon request.
Yes. Need- and merit-based scholarships are provided through Friends of Global Arts United (FGAU), our nonprofit partner.
Submit the online Application Form with 1–2 composition samples (audio or video links, MIDI accepted). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Bring your laptop, headphones, and MIDI controller. Studio and rehearsal spaces will be provided.
Morning discussions, afternoon workshops, and evening rehearsals or performances — plus time to explore Austin’s creative scene.
A limited number of observer passes may be available; contact us for details.
